Santa is coming to Carter County Dodge!!! Thursday Dec. 14th from 4-6pm and its free for everyone to come see Santa and take pictures! You can take your own pictures with Santa and its FREE!

Wreaths Across America

WHAT: Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery, an official Wreaths Across America (WAA) location, will host a wreath-laying ceremony, joining more than 3,700 other locations across the country for National Wreaths Across America Day. Coordinated and led by local volunteers, sponsorship groups have raised funds throughout the year to sponsor the placement of 75 veterans’ wreaths on the headstones of our fallen service members laid to rest there. This annual event seeks to further the yearling mission to Remember, Honor, Teach, ensuring that the memory of those who served our country endures. Veterans, family, friends, and the community are encouraged to attend. Poet Laureate Jay Snider @ The Goddard Center

Jay Snider is the current poet laureate of Oklahoma, serving from 2023 to 2024. He writes in the cowboy poetry genre. He is the third cowboy poet to be appointed Oklahoma state poet laureate after his predecessors Joe Kreger and Eddie Wilcoxen. He was previously named Lariat Laureate by CowboyPoetry.com in 2001 and Cowboy Poet of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists in 2008. He resides in Cyril, Oklahoma and works as a rancher.

Chris Allen Curtis & Ed Rogers @ Marvin’s Place Art Gallery

Sam the Lion’s Ed Rogers and Chris Allen Curtis will be playing acoustic at the Listening Room at Marvin’s Place Art Gallery. Music begins at 6:30 and they will play until 8:30. These amazing musicians have been playing together for over 20 years and it will be a magical night. Make plans to come out and listen, have a glass of wine or a craft beer and take in the beautiful artwork!

National Learn About Butterflies Day

As spring arrives, so does the appearance of bright colors painting the landscape and sky as butterflies soar about. Discover more about this vibrant, whimsical creature and their significance to the ecosystem during National Learn About Butterflies Day, Thursday, March 14, at the Chickasaw Cultural Center. The butterfly (hatalhposhik) holds a special significance to the Chickasaw people, and the cultural center is dedicated to the conservation efforts of these pollinators. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in horticulture activities like a plant and caterpillar cup giveaway as well as explore a butterfly tent where patrons can directly interact with dozens of butterflies. Enjoy butterfly-themed activities including make-and-take crafts, a matching game and scavenger hunt. A free screening of “Flight of the Butterflies” will take place at noon in the Anoli' Theater, followed by a free screening of “Journey of the Butterflies” at 3 p.m. The Aaimpa' Café will also have butterfly cookies for purchase. Be sure to visit the Butterfly Garden, a special oasis dedicated to these fluttering creatures of beauty and grace. This garden is filled with nectar-producing plants for butterflies to enjoy during their cultural center visit as they migrate between the northern United States and Mexico. In addition, the garden has large butterfly statues and educational panels to learn more about the monarch butterfly and conservation efforts to aid in restoring the population. Coinciding with the National Learn About Butterflies Day festivities, regular scheduled cultural activities and demonstrations will continue to occur across campus from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Southern Oklahoma REIA

The goal of the Southern Oklahoma REIA is to share knowledge and experience in all areas for real estate investing. We’re a nonprofit organization made up of investors, landlords, flippers, wholesalers, contractors and real estate professionals. Meetings are held monthly. We will feature a new speaker each month with expertise in their field.

The Bruzzy Women’s Golf Tournament

North Texas University is hosting a D1 Golf Tournament at Dornick Hills Golf and Country Club on March 30-31st. We encourage everyone to come watch the girls.

National Library Week at the Chickasaw Cultural Center

Celebrate National Library Week, now through April 13 at the Chickasaw Cultural Center! Participate in themed activities, poems and book giveaways in Holisso: The Center for Study of Chickasaw History and Culture. In addition, enjoy 20% off all retail book purchases! Bookmark-shaped cookies will be available to purchase in the Aaimpa' Café. Coinciding with National Library Week festivities, the regular scheduled cultural activities and demonstrations will continue to occur across campus from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Oklahoma School for the Deaf Foundation Annual Benefit Golf Tournament

Oklahoma School for the Deaf Foundation is hosting their annual benefit golf tournament on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club in Ardmore. The proceedings from the golf tournament will benefit students at Oklahoma School for the Deaf by supporting educational benefits and opportunities for both students and teachers. Students who attend OSD are from different counties in the state of Oklahoma. OSD has several students from Ardmore attending OSD. OSD foundation supports students to experience hands-on activities related to educational opportunities, scholarships for students graduating from high school, summer camp programs for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and more. OSD Foundation is looking for more 4-person teams, title sponsor and hole sponsors. There will be some games at the golf tournament. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
